On Thursday 28 October, we’re off on a half-term train adventure!
We’re visiting the Chinnor & Princes Risborough Steam Railway to ride on their heritage steam and diesel trains. We’ve also been given the chance to visit their huge signalbox, to see how they operate their trains.
To book tickets, please visit our Eventbrite page here: https://aac-chinnor.eventbrite.co.uk
GETTING THERE:
We’re going to be meeting at Princes Risborough station, which has mainline trains from London Marylebone station. The station is here on Google Maps: https://goo.gl/maps/hBciRwyNDAdcrnj66
- By train: mainline trains run from London Marylebone to Princes Risborough – you’ll need to buy your own ticket for this journey. There appears to be a 9:40am train from Marylebone which gets to Princes Risborough at 10:24am.
- By car: there is parking in the mainline Princes Risborough railway station park, which costs £8 per day. Other cheaper parking may be available in Princes Risborough, but this will be further from the railway station.
SCHEDULE
Here’s what we’ll be doing on the day:
10:30 – Meet at Princes Risborough station – but it doesn’t matter if you’re a bit late.
10:50 – Watch the steam train arrive, run-round and depart (don’t worry, we’ll be riding on it later!)
11:15 – Visit the huge signal box in small groups
12:00 – If you don’t think the signalbox visit is suitable for your child, you can arrive at 12noon just for the train ride
12:30 – Catch the heritage diesel train to Chinnor
13:04 – Arrive at Chinnor station and watch the steam loco attach to our train
13:30 – Ride on the steam train back to Princes Risborough
13:55 – Arrive back at Princes Risborough, and head for home!
What is special about the day?
- You won’t need to queue on the day, as all the tickets will be sorted. Just say that you’re with “All Aboard Club”.
- We’ll have our own carriage on the train, so we’ll be sitting together.
- There may be a bit of waiting to visit the signalbox, as we can only go there in small groups of 12 at a time. However, while you’re waiting to visit the signal box, you’ll be able to watch the passenger and freight trains whizz by on the mainline – we’ll be providing a information sheet about all the trains you should see.
- Siblings and friends will be very welcome to join us.
We hope you’ll be able to join us.
